I created this painting specifically for the cover of my artbook “Unfurl”. The newt symbolizes transformation through its ability to make the transition from water to land. The fern growing from a newt echoes the title and draws a parallel between its unfurling from a tightly coiled state and the personal history of growth, development and self-discovery.
